Bowling Green, Kentucky

Remember the limestone I mentioned? Bowling Green put it to use in Fountain Square Park, where chiseled arches and urns mark entrées to the fountain, installed in 1881 and surrounded by statues of mythological goddesses. During downtown events, horse-drawn carriages will trot you around the square, today a mix of galleries, restaurants, shops and Victorian architecture. You’re sure to catch a ride Friday nights in July and August during the free Concerts in the Park series.

Bowling Green also offers its own unique form of horsepower! It is home to the Corvette Assembly Plant and National Corvette Museum. Tour the plant and see the only place in the world where "America's sports car" is manufactured. At the museum you will experience the Corvette in its many forms throughout its illustrious history. Also, at Beech Bend Raceway you can hear - and feel - the roar of national level dragracing. The Raceway is a part of Beech Bend Park, a fantastic family entertainment amusement park.
